Meramec River Teahouse

Here is a geographically accurate ‘map’ of an oxbow in the Meramec River, set on the floor of a teahouse in Washington, Missouri. My grandfather’s cabin is located at the alabaster cube that bears his name. Matted river pebbles on a field of porcelain tile with grout that matches the local soil.
Ocean

This ocean mosaic is on a countertop on a Berkeley, CA houseboat. The owner collected carnelian from nearby beaches. Broken glass frames the shoreline, carnelian pebbles and shells are set in grout.
